Traditionally furnishing an apartment can significantly increase rents relative to the cost of the furniture package. Should you ever need to renovate your property it is a far simpler proposition that a house renovation and costs much less because you will only renovate the inside.
Until recently townhouses were still relatively uncommon in New Zealand but as our main centers look for higher density housing strategies these types of properties will apear more and more.
A townhouse is a great compromise between an apartment and a full standalone house. Rental income is largely dependent on the number of bedrooms and property location so you will get more income per square meter of land that you own. Also outside areas are generally compact and easy care, perfect for a rental property.
